The grand opening of the first stage of Borgata's expansion project is scheduled for June 30. This phase of the expansion includes restaurants operated by top chefs Wolfgang Puck, Bobby Flay and Michael Mina, a food court, a night club and an additional 36,000 square feet of casino space including 44 table games, 520 slot machines and an 85 table poker room. The second phase of the project will feature an 800 room hotel tower.

Harrah’s has begun construction of their new hotel tower with an expected opening in 2008. Trump Entertainment is hoping to start construction on a new hotel tower at Taj Mahal by the end of June with hopes of opening in 2008.

American Real Estate Partners, an investment arm controlled by the Sands' billionaire owner, Carl C. Icahn recently acquired the property of the former Traymore Hotel. Currently, The Sands is not sure how they will use the property. Use it for a major expansion? Or resell it for profit? The Sands is also rumored to be looking to acquire the 70 year old Post Office building across Pacific Ave.

And the winner of the Aztar/Tropicana bidding war is… Kentucky-based Columbia Sussex Corp. Well it looks that way… Aztar selling to Pinnacle Entertainment Inc. was supposedly a done deal at one point too…
